Rang 2 - Rang 7 Reopening arrangements for September 2020
25/06/20
Dear parent,
I hope you and your family are keeping well in these unprecedented times. I hope that you and your family have a lovely summer holiday and thank you all for your co-operation during this time.
At this point, I want to provide families with guidance of my forward planning for re-opening in September. This of course is subject to change as I and my Board of Governors will be following guidance from the Department of Education in the weeks and months to come.
Reopening School Guidance and ‘New School Day’ at Gaelscoil na Speiríní.
After the publication of the Department of Education Reopening School Guidance ‘New School Day’ and meetings with the Board of Governors and school staff I am planning for all the children to return to school full time in the new academic year with social distancing, where practical, while implementing a ‘protective bubble’ strategy. This position will remain fluid throughout the Summer and will be informed by PHA and DE guidelines. I urge that you log on to the school website to check for updates on what the school day will look like for your children over the summer holidays.
Class requisitions:
Teachers will ensure that your child has their own set of stationary when they return to school. Box files have been ordered so that every child has their individual box for their books.
Personal Hygiene Requisitions: A significant quantity of toilet roll, hand towels, tissues, liquid soap and hand sanitiser have been purchased to ensure a plentiful supply. There will be hand-washing and sanitising stations set up in each room and frequent handwashing will be part of the return to school regime.
Requirements for School: Your child will only need a lunchbox to school. It is not required that they take their school bag to school. They will have a designated seat within the classroom. They will eat lunch at their designated seat also. There will be more information to follow in regards to arrangements for those children who are entitled to free-school meals.
Temperature Checks: Pupils will have their temperature checked periodically throughout the school day using a handheld digital infrared thermometer. If your child is displaying a high temperature you will be asked to collect them immediately.
Sickness: If your child is sick please do not send them to school. If your child becomes sick you will be asked to collect them immediately.
School Uniform: In order to minimise the risk of spread within school it is recommended that uniform is changed regularly, preferably daily. Therefore, we ask that you alternate between your child’s school sport jersey and school jumper. Please do not purchase multiple school jumpers as plain green jumpers will be acceptable until further notice.
Staggered Drop-off times and Collection Times: There will be two drop off times ranging from 8.30am-9a.m. and 2.40p.m.-2.55p.m. There will be a teacher/member of staff on duty every morning. Children will be grouped according to families. Children will be dropped off at the large gates at front of school and collected from back gates. No parents are allowed to enter the premises. Please see information attached relating to Staggered Drop-off times and Collection Times.
Guide for Re-opening School Timetable: I have included a Guide for Re-opening for all parents. There is an initial Settling in time to allow for children, staff and parents to become practised in the ‘New School Day.’
Please keep all this information safely. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me @ skelly745@c2kni.net
I appreciate your continued support and co-operation on these matters.
